Has anyone ever seen/visited the integratron? If you don't know what it is here's the wikipedia link.

Integratron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apparently it is the only all-wood, acoustically perfect sound chamber in the U.S. Figured that might have had someone interested in here.

I'm sure there's some BS in that claim, but a lotta people say they've got acoustically perfect environments these days...

I don't think the guy who built it said it was acoustically perfect, but i'm sure the aliens that convinced him to build it thought so. Maybe there's different sound propagation on Venus? :)

that could very well be ..... maybe the triangle positioning of their three ears has something to do with it.

:)

That must be it!

I wish a more reputable group than the Arctic Monkeys had done some recording there, just to allow some credibility for the Integratron. I find the whole story pretty interesting. As far as room structure goes, are domes even preferable environments for acoustics? I know some theaters have the half-dome stage, I just can't see a whole dome being very easy to control. Especially with just plywood and 2x4's...

I've been in some domes and the ones I was in were huge echo chambers. A dome would focus all the sound in a single spot somewhere in the middle like a parabolic mic does. I can't imagine it being a good recording environment.
But yeah ..... it's be cool to hear what that particular one sounds like.

My brother got me interested in it, he saw it on one of his offroad adventures. They were doing one of those sound baths at the time so he wasn't able to get inside. I'm really hoping someone on here has seen it, or lives close and is up for the pilgrimage. I'd love to check it out eventually... even if it is a load of crap.

What about a pyramid design, seems like you could stuff bass traps in all the corners and be able to do something with that? They have 4 walls though, so you'd need instructions from aliens with 4 ears.

I had a friend with a dome house.
It was uber-cool. And much larger inside than you expect when you see the outside at first.

I could do something with any room as a studio though ...... dome, pyramid ...... raquet ball court ... :D ..... seriously. What I have now is an equipment/records/stereo room with recording gear set up in the available nooks and cranny's.
Of course ....... with the room filled to the ceiling with crap it's pretty dead ...... useful in its way.
But I'd LOVE to have me a big old dome ....... I'd fix it some kinda way.
