I pisces7378, being of sound mind and body do herby ask the forbidden question on any forum based website...

Where ELSE on the web are you guys going for HomeRecording pleasure besides www.HomeRecording.com???

I know about Sonik Matter, and HomeRecording.com and I have run across a few shitty little weekend warrior websites that masquerade as real websites.

This website is EXCELLENT for asking and answering questions. The guys and gals on this site are the best in the world. BUT... let's face it, the actual site itself is lacking pretty heavily in raw content. The BBS takes the place of a lot of content in the fact that you can just search the forums and you will 99% of the time find your answer.
And to be fair, there is are a few little nuggets of info that the Dragon has thrown up on the front page, but I am getting restless. I was just wondering if you guys knew any other websites that deal with all of our' favorite topic?

Thanks guys!

Mike

I read TapeOp magazine, but that's about it. I only have time for one bbs these days, and I choose this one.

Another group

Go to www.yahoogroups.com and run a search for Home Recording, there are a few good ones. Again though, mostly have to search for content. I like this system though....it always amazes me that my exact question has been asked before.

I've gotten to where I lurk around here almost exclusively but I've also been known to peek in at prorec and also the forums at musicplayer.com (Dare I post a link? Aye, I dare!) http://www.musicgearnetwork.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

I mean if I can post a question and have George Massenburg answer it, why the %*#^ not?!?

Also, for acoustic stuff I have subscribed to the acoustics forum at yahoogroups (www.studiotips.com) There's a good bit of knowledge floating around there also.

And, as Vurt mentions TapeOp rocks.

You can wander elsewhere, but all roads will eventually lead back to the ol' Homerecording bbs. If you search around enough posts, you'll find all the links you'll ever need around here. One of my recent favorites the the John Vestman mastering site. I don't remember the adress right now, but you can link to it through through the articles section at http://galaris.com/index.php

I´ve also been looking around, I won´t name any names of other forums that are supposed to be pro and I have to say this is simply the best BBS out there, the guys here are always willing to answer all your questions and there are a lot of them who are real pros at what they do, so I trust most of their advice blindfoldedly. The content here is simply the best. HomeRecording BBS rules!!!!!!!!!!:D :)

Recording forums

try the forum pages at www.sospubs.co.uk

This is the website for Sound on Sound magazine, probably the best UK magazine on the subject. Not only is the Forum section excellent but the equipment/software reviews are great as well. In addition there are a considerable number of well-informed "technique" articles.

Yes, I am a subscriber but it is the best !

I miss Recording Engineer/Producer magazine!! What a publication. (Anybody out there remember Modern Recording magazine from way back in the late '70s & '80s?)

I am also a subscriber to SOS. I fucking love that magazine. I am an American but I am loving in Germany working for Texas Instruments (Which has a large distributor in your home town of Mr. Buzzard.) I just love reading the way British writers talk about recording. The style of writing is much more pleasant to read than American magazines. Americans in general (whoops gross generalizations!!!) jump on "buzz words" and just see how lost they can make you feel so that they themselves can feel like they know a lot. This coming from an American is quite a bold statement.

Although the British are NOTORIOUS for using their self proclaimed "superior command of the English language" to make Canadians, Americans, South Africans, and Australians feel dumb. (OK, Aussies and Sooth Ahfreecuns ARE just dumb... only kidding boys) But honestly, SOS is hands down the best publications going. There are clever and helpful articles in EVER issue. Most magazines that I have subscribed to on ANY subject are all the same; two or three descent articles in one months issue, then two MONTHS of filler just to have an issue that month, and then another good issue. SOS is a solid informative magazine EVERY month.

Just my two scents.

Mike

P.S. Canadians are dumb too.

ive peeked once or twice at other sites, but there is little on the internet besides Homerecording.com and porn that is of any use to me......

With this staring me in face everytime I log on I realize it`ll be a while before I`m finished here. :)

I am 100% in agreeance. I think that HR.com is THE best site in the world for this topic. I am not "going" anywhere.
