The Distortion of Sound

There's something to be said for getting rid of the BRICK look of a lot of today's music files (some of mine included). Everything's getting too compressed and limited anymore. It's a common rant on this site. Is it such a crime to have some music with dynamics? I'm also coming up on 55 soon, but my jewels haven't made it to my chest yet hope that doesn't really happen...
