I would like opinions on this.

Say an 80 channel SSL 9000 console is $80,000.

That makes it $1,000 per channel (if you don't include the master section and what not).

And there is quite a bit on each channel. Preamp, Input control, Compressor/Gate, 4 band EQ section, Aux Sends, Fader section.

Seems each module is just over $150. I see SSL EQ's going for near one grand. Why is this?

Is the module that cheap because it is being sold in bulk? (That's how Wal-Mart and Sam's Club prices everything so low)

I guess I should also take into account that this is the digital age...

Given that the SSL 924 is around $80K you might need to rethink your math...

Do us a few links. What modules have you seen that are very cheap?

My guess is their cheap because they're almost useless unless you have an SSL desk to put them in.

Even if you wanted to rack them up, you might have to mod in transformers, phantom power, pads, whatever you want.

I think you get modules for lunchboxes that are pretty expensive though, right? Those bad boys are plug and play.

Probably not the same league, but I got my ward beck modules for $45 each which was a complete steal, but then again, they were set up for line input only and the output impedance was no good for modern gear.
They needed a lot of modding plus a power supply before they were useful.
Wasn't even a one off; There's a guy selling them on ebay for not much more than that right now.

Makes sense.

Yeah if you wanted to get a chassis for TWO X-Logic modules, that cost somewhere around $500!
