The correct tab to purple rain.

I see all this tab that has c chords at the first fret, but in the movie it shows it starting out on the 6 and 7th fret d and g strings.

does anyone have the correct way?
 
Does C sound right? That's all that matters. No one's going to watch you play, then complain that it doesn't look the same as the movie.
 
maybe prince doesn't really know how to play the guitar. :p

i watched him on the superbowl and sometimes his fingering was different from what i heard.

i also once saw him in a video and there was NO CABLE to his guitar!

i just don't know about the guy, first not knowing (or not being able to read?) the correct tabs and now this ...

lol The SuperBowl was a live show. You can hear a few parts where he plays a couple chords or notes and then takes his hand off the guitar and it would make the scratch sound and the exact moment. He is a damn good guitar player. He might be a "pop star", but he is one of the least manufactured there is or ever was. You also have to remember, he had a full on funk band he would write music for.
 
In the movie, I thought the song was in Bb. the first chord is a Bb add 9 I think.

Bb F Bb C F Low to high starting on the A string.

I can't do ascii tab.

It's an easy song, isn't it. It's I VIm IV V or thereabouts.
 
Dear lord, what is so hard about Purple Rain? It's got like, 4 chords in it. :rolleyes:
