You might call them straight forward blues DOG, but I was dancin' the hoochie coochie the whole time it played. And I played it 5xs!!! :D
AAHHH... to me straight forward blues means, not overproduced, guitar oriented, but with vocals that aren't pop. I've heard John Mayer play the blues, and I've heard him do pop music. His blues kicks ass, but his pop stuff, well.....It's pop.... :D

New Blues track - thoughts?

Hi all..

Please have a listen to my band's blues tracks (orginals). They are at

www.soundclick.com/bluesmix

Follow the link to MP3 music.
Let me know what you think. Feeback much appreciated!

Hey Rob. It sounds fine but in my opinion sounds a little top heavy. The sax is a bit piercing. It could use some balls in the bottom end. The cymbals are pretty sharp sounding too. The performance is great. You really capture a live feel. I'm assuming it was recorded LOTF. Anyway cool tune altogether.

robf...voice is alittle in the background......not out in front.

Hay (robf) we all record and like what we hear. I don't think any of us like to hear someone saying things are not right. We all hear things different. I am truly not someone who knows it all.

My observation of your recordings are that the music and singing is fine. I do feel that the voice should be more up front (dominating over the music)........on both songs" Lost My Way" and "Long Way From Home" more so on the 1st song, the person singing sounds (to me) like they are not out in front enough......not right up front with the band. But hay..........maybe that is the sound you wanted......or maybe its just my ear. I like to hear the singers voice sounding alittle over the other parts which uses the instruments more as a complementing background.... helping the singers sound at their best.

Just a comment here........thats what you ask for.

Thanks very much for the comments, really appreciate the time spent listening to the tunes

*Huesef*... Yes, the songs were recorded near live. The vocals and sax/piano were overdubbed later. The rest were recorded 'as is'.
Re: the Sax, yes I see what you mean. I nearly changed that...but it seems to sound a little different on different systems. In my car its ok, at home it is a little piercing. Thanks for your comments!

*Choctaw* .. Very interesting what you say. I have a couple of earlier mixes of the tracks (particularly Lost My Way) where the Vocals are further out front/louder. I was a little worried they were too loud so took them done to the level you heard. Part of this may be lack of impartiality...I am the one singing and didn't want my vox to dominate the mix. It may have affected my judgement a little ...maybe they need to be a little louder.

thanks again guys....

jgourd. That's a wicked track. I love the tone you get from that guitar. The vocals are a little muffled from proximity I assume. Otherwise great sounding track. Wicked bass.

Hey! Nice track freshears. I think there's some clipping going on with the hi-hats. The bass is a little overpowering but all the tones are great. Love the break. Some female backups would sound great on this. A la Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo. Great finish.

Ahh 'Da Bluez' gotta love 'em....

Here is a slow mellow jam --->

Ok, this is what happens when I am intoxicated and try and do blues music.....Problem is, the only thing that made me blue, was I was writing lyrics for a song with Willis, and some of em sounded sorta korny, so I drank lots of beer........No real blues in my life.

Enjoy....or not.

My try at the blues....

(I should probably stick to Doom/Stoner/Garage Rock..... )

Get down blues man! :) ..liked it, can I share your DISCLAIMER? :D
