You aren't really going to get "the best" in software... (unless you go for the East West software). The SRX expansion boards by Yamaha are arguably the best on the market.

and two... have you even played a software synth??? cause you seem to be talking out your ass seems to me...
compare the # of samples per key say on a piano patch... encluding velocity and sustain and sustonuto(sp?) there's no way roland can put that all in a budget minded keyboard for every sound they try to give you... consider the processing power of your computer verses the risc chip in a keyboard...(risc= reduced instruction set controller) have you seen any movies lately??? a shit load of soundtracks are recorded useing nuthin but softsynths... think they'ld do that if the results were less than a $1k keyboard???
