The best dynamic microphones

OK, Chater- The first line is simply not true. The first dynamic cardioid mic was the Shure 55 Unidyne, introduced 10 years before the D12. At least get the facts straight. And yes, the D12/D112 is undervalued as a vocal mic. Everybody associates it with kick drum. It shines on voiceovers.

OK will pass that correction along... Thanks!

Nice list.
D12 and D112 are too different to go under the same heading, in my opinion.
I've never seen them as interchangeable in any situation, whereas in some situations the sm7/sm58/sm57 can be.

I've used the D112 for voice work before but I'd never use a d12 for that.

Sounds picky, but the D12 would be on my list whereas the D112 wouldn't.
Just my experience.

They call the M88tg the "Little brother" of the original 88. I thought the only difference was a stronger grill for touring?

I like the descriptions here.

Polyvalent. Heh.
