Client: Have you get any spare time available in the studio?
Studio: We have Wednesday free.
Client turns up Wednesday and spends the whole day recording. End of the day:
Studio: That will be $### for the day thanks.
Client: Oh I thought that when you said you had spare time I thought it was spare time and for free!!

I used to work weekly on a Yamaha LS9-32 for live stuff, and if I had a show where I had someone who knew how to mix WAYYY better than me (sarcasm), I'd flip the board to layer 33-64 (completely unused, and it does NOTHING when not plugged in) and let the "real" sound engineer have his way - "Man turn up that kick!" - .....*pushes artificial kick fader up to +10 from unity*..... "Yeah man that's what I'm talkin about!!!". I know exactly how you feel. It's a pain in the ass.
