I don't know you, but I do admire and respect how you help people with questions about recording and gear here, on GS and other boards, so I truly don't mean any disrespect here. My understanding about this issue is that what you're calling "dishonesty" was as much of a misunderstanding as your impression that Karma was still rebranding Feilo microphones. My understanding was that some time back on GS, Waylon and Karma owned up to the mistakes they made about this information and apologized for it. What else can they (or could anyone else) do? They have removed any explicit mention of sE from their website and Myspace page and are focusing on the future. Their current efforts are not to win back lost trust with you, but to earn the trust of the recordist on a budget market based on the merits of what they are doing now-- something they seem to be doing quite well.
I'm only posting this because I love this company's products (I also love my Mackie Onyx mixer, my Rodes (despite that weird Australian dude who inspired the K-Micros), my Audix mics, and my Chameleon Labs preamp), they have great deals and I can communicate with the people who sell and develop them-- unlike that weird Australian dude who I probably wouldn't want to talk to anyway.
Again, I don't mean to be disrespectful-- the last thing I want to do is get into a bickering match on a MB with someone with your cred.

Koj, no offense taken and I appreciate your comments.

I don't work for Karma or own them, however those that are in that position with the company were telling everyone "same as sE" trying to ride the reputation of sE towards success. They were going so far as to say "same factory" etc, again these people own the place and work there.

All of a sudden they realize they don't own the factory that builds sE Electronics...? That, to me, is not an "oops" it's a "busted".

So those are my thoughts on it, again I have no problem with being presented new angles or being told Karma has somehow turned over a new leaf. It still says something to me that the same people who were...to find the nicest word I can here..."misinforming" people that they "owned the factory which builds sE and Karma" are still...the same people now.

They might have removed "sE Electronics" from their eBay auctions or myspace page, but they still DID IT which tells me something about them. Maybe I'm not as forgiving, maybe I am a biased sE dealer who just won't see past Karma's new found truth telling skills.

If Karma is not built by an OEM maker then I am wrong, for the most part I was assuming that Karma's fictional statments of owning the same factory that does or "used to" build sE microphones would mean OEM. If somebody wants to tell me there's a Karma factory that isn't building mics for anyone else then I'll take that info to the bank. Either way my main intention by popping into this thread was to react to the statement that Karma can somehow say sE is "too expensive" when the fact of the matter is they both have different expenses and approaches to the market.

Who anyone does business with is their choice, but they're different mics from different places and two companies playing by different sets of rules.

Again, they owned up to what was incorrect and they did their best to make amends and to not make claims that couldn't be borne out as true. You seem to continually want to make it an issue now that they are having some success and have done everything they can to make amends.
My concern was just that your posts just seem aimed at merely detracting from the positive buzz being generated by the people who are actually buying and using these products and offering sincere testimonials of their value.
My experience of them as a consumer and an avid home recorder is that this is a great company with great people and a great product. As a vendor of a competing brand, I can understand how you'd feel differently.

Thanks Warren-- your perceptions are well documented and I appreciate our e-dialogue. I would just say I think it says a lot about who these folks are and how they do business that numerous paying customers will speak out for them unsolicited. I didn't expect myself to be doing this to be sure! :)
I haven't gotten my K-Micros yet, but I love my set of K-6 ribbons (I never thought I'd be able to afford one, nevermind two, quality phantom-powered ribbon mirophones). My K-58 tube is burning in a new choice 6072a tube as we type!

If it is a good product and cheep I win.

Ok I will say it. They are built in the KARMA FACTORY in Shanghai, China.

And well, we can say that some microphones in the market are over priced. Basically cause allot of them are over priced.

As for you being an sE dealer, well sir that is your choice and for the record; I do not knock sE's products. Heck many of them have my influence on them (in some way shape or form).

I am not against any microphone company. Every company has its strong points and I for one can tell you that my mic cabinet has many brands in it. Everything from Telefunken, Manley Labs, Neumann, AKG, Rhode, MXL, Blue, T-Bone, Silicone Entourage Electronics (sE), Karma Audio Productions (KARMA), Shure, and many more.

In a studio situation to use just one brand or limit your self to just one brand is a mistake.

I purchased a set of K-Micros on August 31st. They just arrived via USPS Priority Mail today (Sept 8th). The return address was Karma's Cupertino, CA office address.

I only just opened the package a few minutes ago so I don't know how (or even if) they work. I'll report back once I've had a chance to play with them a bit.

some of the other posters were waiting weeks, Im going to order a couple and see what happens. Let me know how they work in the mean time.
so shipping will be cheaper. I thought they was coming straight from china.
 
Just opened mine. They shipped on the 5th.. :D :D :D :D :D

Busy weekend ahead but, if I have a chance I will post a clip of my drums mic-ed with 6 micros.

depending where you live. After they ship it will take between 2 - 5 business days
 
I just did a quick test. The top end looks to start dropping off around 16.1k. (much better than the specs on Karmas website)

Also a small dip around 2.3K. All 6 of mine mics are very close in Freq response.

I guess it wont hurt to pick some up. I see they price is already up to $5.00 but still... I'll prolly get like 5 or so just for fun and experimentation...

This is the second batch with the better specs.

So does Alan of joemeek and a few others. What I've read of Warren's threads, non-biased opinion here, seems to be to point. Yeah there is cheaper, and some not so bad sounding, items than what he sells, but he is usually quick to answer honesty, and will make note when being honest is not in his business's favor. Personally, I trust the guy so far as I have read, but have never personally done business with him, in all fairness. For what it is worth.
 
OK...Been playing around and did another test.

Pinknoise 90 db at the mic. Mic's are 2 feet away from the speakers.

Red -- Karma micro
Green -- Behringer EMC8000
Blue -- MSH-1

I don't know what this proves but the top end looks much better than I stated earlier.
