timboz, my guess would be the same as yours. i know the sound drastically changes when i move any of my cardioids even a couple of inches.

...I gotta say that after reading thru Karma's "Recording Tips" section on the new site, that I'm pretty impressed with the fact that microphones from the competition (AKG, Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Neumann and even an sE mic get recommendations) are included in the text...can't say that I've seen that on too many of the other manufacturers' sites...the included tips are straight forward and very useful (especially for noobies)...worth printing a copy as a reference guide...check it out:
