Hello all HR members, i posted this question over at gearslutz in not so great of grammer and instead of getting the question really answered. i got belittled for my poor use of english. BUT thats another story in itself, i will try my best to be as clear as possible this time around! ; )
When i first got into the mixing game my vocal chain was a studio projects b1 ldc ( $100), a bellari mp 105 tube preamp( $50 ), a m audio fast track usb interface ( used $50), and a cheap pair of skullcandy cans($50). since then i have upgraded to a ksm32 ldc into a ua la 610 pre and i gotta say i was loving the results. when i purchased the 610 id say thats when i progressed the most as a mixing engineer and obtained a great amount of knowledge about the homerecording game. so, recently as a experiment i pulled out my old vox chain tracking a verse or two through it and i gotta say i dont know if its because i became a better engineer but i ended up with some great results. so great i ended up scratching my head trying to justify why i now own a 2000 dollar vox chain over a 250 dollar vox chain that seemed to get great results as well?
a example of this $250 vocal chain can be heard here at www.soundclick.com/statixxthinkoutloudent and the song is called " Gz up"
i would like some feed back from fellow engineers on weather you guys think this is a good mix or not and if it is should i get rid of my 610 if i get great results from a $50 P.A.?
thanks for all replies in advance.
