Alright. I'm sure you've all been plagued with posts like this but your help is greatly aprpeciated.

I've got an analog fourtrack recorder (to be specific, Tascam Portastudio 414) and I've finally managed to record my first composite track (and still in progress!).

Now, mixing down has become somewhat a dillema. I'm on a budget like many artists and cannot afford DSD recorders. DAT and cassette...sure, that's not as expensive as DSD recorders. I want to be able to transfer my cassette to an audio CD though. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do this? Links?

As stated earlier. I'm pretty broke and the only options right now are mixing down via cassette deck and a used DAT recorder.

Thanks in advance ya'll.

The cheapest and most common way for home recorders on a budget is to record your mix directly from the Portastudio into your computer via your sound card. Then once on your computer you can burn your files to cd vai the CD-R burner on your computer.

The physcal setup would be to run the left and right main outs on your Portastudio to the Line In jack on your computer's sound card. Record your songs using some free audio software like Audacity (easy to find for free download on the Internet, just google it.) And then use that same software to burn those files to CD-R.

And remember; the Board helps those who help themselves ;) :D
