I must have od'd on thick pills coz I can't remember how to change tempo. I've done it before, but that Insert Tempo don't seem to work the way I remember it.

I'm using GT3, but it's similar to Sonar. The way I remember it, there was a check box that said 'stretch audio'. If the project tempo was 100bpm, and I selected a clip and made ot 120bpm, it would shrink the clip.

What I've got is a clip of some drums I want to speed up slightly to match the tempo of another section. Can anyone help me out here?

Don't you need to make it a groove clip and then enable looping for it to do the tempo matching thing?

Insert Tempo will just add a new tempo reference at a specific time.

Yeh that Insert Tempo is not what I want is it.

I have enabled groove clips, but what's that 'enable looping' you're referring to? How do I get it to stretch the damn audio?

Sorry - I think that was v2-speak. Looks like it is just called "Groove Clip Looping" under v3 of Sonar...

I do this

- Double-click the clip to open the beat inspector window thingy
- Make sure the transient markers are in the right spots
- Make sure the original recorded tempo is being displayed
- Make sure the "Enable Looping" icon is turned on.
- Close the window and return to the track view
- Toggle the "Groove Clip Looping" option

And away it goes....

In the past to make this work I have also had to save the file clip as a new wave file using the save icon in the beat inspector window and then re-import this clip into the track.

Hi,

I just did it yesterday. but I don't understand today it doesn't work... What I did is use the length function (Process -> Length) and to accelerate both midi and audio I set it up under 100% (I used 95% of song length and got the tempo about 4-5 bpm faster) remember to click on stretch audio

Guys, thanks for the input here.

Unfortunately GT3 is rather more different from Sonar than I thought, and it don't have access to a lot of that stuff you mention.

I remember doing this in GT2, and it sounded like crap. But when I did it in GT3 I was impressed with the improved sound quality - it stretched the audio without introducing any artefacts. Damn it I know it's in here somewhere

Again, I don't know if GT3 has this plugin in, but have a look at your Audio Effects - Cakewalk - Time/Pitch Stretch => This will do a one-off destructive edit as opposed to the groove clip thingy I was banging on about.

Other than that - what about Process - Length.... Got that one?
