What do you have against teles, anyway? :confused:

None of them are standard issue.

I don't have one, but will soon. When I get one, I sure as hell want it to sound like a tele. I wouldn't buy one just because it's shaped like a tele. You need the bridge/pickup assembly. You need the middle position sound. When they tamper with it by putting HBs or middle pickups, I think it ruins what makes a tele worth having. I already have other guitars that cover those sounds, but you can't really get that tele sound with anything else.

Well, believe it or not, I have a Peavey T-60 and it sounds alot like a tele. It's just ugly and weighs 11 pounds.
 
Thumbs up for the G&L from this Tele guy.

If money's an issue try the Tribute series. IMHO they're better than the import Fenders.

If you get USA Made it's a matter of taste. Pick whichever you prefer. I had played Fenders for many years but G&L won me over.

ive never come across this before, just had a quick look at the thomann site, and entered fender telecaster nashville b-bender and a bunch of teles came up including the one i mentioned earlier, how do i know if its a b-bender

and what is a b-bender
 
OMG, a b-bender VIRGIN!!??!

The Parson/Green or Parsons/White b-bender is easily spotted on any tele by the obvious mechanism located just behind the bridge plate in line with the B string. The b-bender guitars are available as a factory option. The mechanism pulls on the b string to sharpen it by a whole tone. B-bender players include Clarence White, Brad Paisley, Jimmy Olander, the Eagles, Brent Mason, and all of the Hellcasters, although Will Ray uses an aftermarket bender add-on made by Hipshot on his G&L Tele. B-benders, G-benders and drop D-tuners are a staple of Nashville type country picking.

Check out the June Guitar Player magazine...the cover story is about Andy Summers, and it also talks about his gear. Also, Fender Custom shop is making copies of that very guitar, complete with all the gashes & nicks.
 
The New G&L doesn't seem to sound right to me, I' aways turn to a Fender. 72 Deluxe is the one I go for.

Just 'cause it doesn't sound like a standard tele doesn't mean it's ruined. I have a 72 thinline, has 2 HB's and semihollow, and I'd say it's still worth having :rolleyes: . Buy a guitar based off of its sound, not the model name.
 
Deluxe Ash

Picked up a butterscotch American Deluxe Ash tele on Saturday.

I'll post some pictures later.
