Ok.......I must be missing something on the operation of this unit....I bought it a cpl weeks ago,and have been looking for a manual......The problem is I cannot get it to record in sync......everything works on it,but when I record a track and try to record another track, the second track is off a little.....I have tried setting the switches every way I can think of...This is the first one of these recorders I have had. I have a cpl 8 tracks that of course you don't have all the switches....I'm beginning to feel like a dork  .....Any help would help preserve my sanity...... :)

well ...... the tracks you want to record on have to have the simulsync switches set to normal. The tracks you are playing along with have to have the simulsynch switches set to simulsync. Then when you play it back all the switches go to normal.
So ..... tracks being listened to as you record new tracks=simulsync
Tracks actually being recorded = normal
playback ..... all tracks=normal

Thanks Lt.Bob.......my switches are labeled tape/source and record mode on/off.......but I get the picture....I'm pretty sure I set them that way a couple times  ,but I must not have been holding my mouth right lol seems to work alright now.....many thanks........Dave

I may be wrong but I dont think all of the 2340 series of teac recorders had syml sync. Which would mean you cant do the kind of recording you want to.
If the head stack does not have 4 switches that says syml sync on it this is probably the case.
The model numbers that have syml sync that I know of are a2340sx and A2340 which is the first model to have syml sync .
It could be you have a model that was made for quad recording and playback only. Which means you can record 4 tracks at once but not one at a time and keep them in sync.
Good luck with your machine

I wasn't aware of that but he's correct. If there aren't 4 switches on the head cover you're not gonna be able to record in sync with the already recorded tracks.

I have the A and it does indeed have sync. I really like mine, although I hardly ever use it. I'd have to say it's mint. Really sounds great. :) (No Reel, you can't have it! :p )

7" 4-track is a fun format!!!
