I'm very flattered, David, but I'm happily married.![]()
David Hooper said:I don't say it's a "no win" situation. What I tell people is that playing live is an easy way to make money as well as get in front on hundreds of potential fans at one time.

free drugs, pussy, beer and getting paid.....thats out
In Canada tributes still work , showbands ( those Ramada Inn days ) are making a comeback in the Casinos. Original bands play small dives across the country getting anywhere from $100.00 - $300.00 a night. Well known groups wait until the summer and do festivals where they can make some decent money.
In Daves home town ( Nashville ) bands play for tips and when you want to showcase it costs $500.00 for a 6:00pm - 6:30 slot.
All in all if we were to all right books and sell them to each other we could probably do ok
As a wise old girlfriend once said : What's the point Bucket Head"
Myx62 said:Do you really have to tell people that? Dave, I think your patronizing me.
Myx62 said:Do you tell people that they can make more money playing covers at dive bars than originals? Its a sad but true harsh reality. Ill admit, sometimes I miss those days. Man we Tweeked and played covers and the ladies treated us like rock stars anyway-lol Then I moved to LA to do Originals and low and behold WE HAD TO PAY TO PLAY!!!!(sunset strip) So we started playing at underground parties(200-300-ppl) and got payed to play plus free drugs, pussy and beer.(not to mention exposure) You see in LA you pay to play cause a record company A&R person may be there that night. Most the other cities, you just get chummped out and payed far lower than cover bands.
Is it all still like that? Ive been away for about 10 years. (marital bliss)

Like a few folks on here if been at this for a while I wouldn’t slam or talk negative about anything unless I had first had experience.
Tucci said:But I still think that you should have received a refund or that they should have bumped you down to the one month option like you asked. Even if it's not their policy to give refunds in that manner I think it would have been more considerate of them. Since you basically did not even use the service. Most department stores will give your money back for a pair of shoes that you bought and decided you didn't want before you even tried them on. Plus, INMHO it would have been smarter businesswise....because you wouldn't be on this board letting people know how indiebiz didn't give you a refund.
