I've come across an unused 32. I have not bought it yet. Though unused it has two issues I can see. One, the minor issue, is the headphone out is very noisy. I presume this is fixable. The second issue involves "wobble" on the take-up side. It's as though the table(?) that the reel mounts on is not seated properly inside the machine. Or is it likely that a shaft is bent? I've ruled out the reel or hub as the culprit.

Try putting the deck horizontally and you'll probably see if it's a crack in the table mount or a bent shaft by the way it wobbles. You can also take it apart fairly quickly and see if there's any cracks in the plastic that would cause it to wobble. If it's the shaft, I wouldn't buy it.

The 32s headphone amp is very noisy. This is as designed.... The only way around that is to replace the headphone amp. I replaced this amp on a 32 that I had but in general it is not worth it as that you can monitor in other ways.

As for the wobble working inward to outward here are the sources of wobble.

1) the motor shaft could be bent - replace the motor
2) the shaft to table adaptor could be broken. Unlikely as that it is a hefty
aluminum piece. Check the set screws.
3) the plastic reel table to adapter spacer - an easy fix
4) the reel table - replace

If it is just the shaft of the reel table you might be able to bend it out a little.

All from memory so YMMV
