Hi all,

my US 800 been with me for like 4 yrs - working flawlessly on my win 7 X64

upgraded to win 10 x64 - was working great for 2 months or so.

now i don't get any sound unless i REMOVE the USB cable (as a standalone)

mind u going into sounds or device manager EVERYTHING is PERFECT - US 800 as recording playback audio in device manager EVERYTHING IS TOP NOTCH.

just doesnt want to produce any sound. i changed cables, jacks, RCAs,

so i kept EVERYTHING as is got my laptop and plugged the usb after installing the drivers on my laptop win 7 x64. worked flawlessly again.

i uninstalled, reinstalled drivers on win 10 - again everything is perfect when i turn it on it i s recognized in device manager, Sound sources and i can even see the levels working in the TASCAM task bar (where u can change the clock frequency , etc...)

in a nutshell drivers and everything else is perfect just no sound (input i see signal, Tascam GUI shows it also etc...etc...)

hope u can help i dont need another audio interface. it does the job just fine.

cheers,
Roger

First thing to check it to make sure there is no power savings settings getting turned on. Tascams and other USB devices do not like to go to sleep. Usually USB is turned off (to save power), once that happens, unit has to be turned off and back on.

Check to make sure Win10 didn't turn any power savings on, make sure that USB does not turn off. That would be my first hunch.

done that. wots weird is the following: if i REMOVE the USB cable immediately i have sound but since i use Amplitube to ahve some effects i need it to b connected to my PC. as soon as USB is active there is NO SOUND wotsoever. i simply plugged in my Headphones.
USB connected: input shows signal but NO SOUND
USB Disconnected: sound is on IMMEDIATELY.

soooo weird.

all US 800 under device manager working perfectly , also in playback and recording
turn off US 800 and all the devices vanish from the above...which means everything is working the WAY it should
even tascam tray icon working perfectly.

really getting on my nerves why it stopped working when it was on the same machine with the SAME windows 10 x64

P.S.: I just tried ANOTHER USB cable just for the kicks of it. SSDD

OK, this happens in Windows or the DAW? The reason I ask, when in a regular Windows application, the Window's driver takes over. Configuration is done in Windows sound application. If it is in the DAW and using ASIO, then sound function bypasses Windows and communicates between the DAW and the interface with little interaction from the OS. The configuration (routing)being either in the ASIO interface or the DAW. It varies on how the two communicate between DAWs.

I am speculating what is happening, there is some routing change that happened and it over takes the 800's routing. If I am not mistaken, the 800 can be used stand alone for its pre-amps. When it is disconnected, it is going into that mode. When connected, the ASIO driver takes control.

Look at the DAW preferences or the Tascam application to see if there is some routing change going on.

been 6 months haven't used my DAW.
Amplitube is a guitar effects app
yes it uses Asio
also PRIOR to turning AMplitube on before i used to get sound from my guitar = windows
now no amplitube sound (picks up ASIO and all is as it should) and no windows sound.
unplug USB and US 800 is working like a charm lol

Remember it was working for 2 years on win 7; same software and DAW and all - upgraded to win 10 - kept working NOTHING CHANGED. couple of weeks ago no more sound. removed and reinstalled driver worked. second day same thing removed and reinstalled to no avail to date.
cheers
