Help. I am truly an amatuer and I need a mic for my work. I am using the Cubase LE and the Tascam US122 on a PC based home recording system. I need a condenser mic that will be primarily for vocals. Vocal range will cover the whole spectrum from a high soprano to a low bass and everything in btwn including persussion. What is the best mic as far as compatibility for this system? Plse help , you guys are great !

Hi Tone
I am truly an amateur as well and it looks like we have the same setup with the US-122 and Cubase LE. I rarely record vocals, mostly strings and acoustic guitar. That said, I have made some recent vocal recordings with the Studioprojects B1 mic with some success, though a Shure dynamic mic PG 57 (this is marketed as an instrument mic!) did an equally good job at least. :)

What microphone you use with the Tascam isn't gonna matter as much as what microphone you are using.

There are too many unanswered questions for me to give a straight answer. For one no one mic works well for every person. You haven't given a budget of what you want to spend? A condenser can cost anywhere from a 100 bucks to 10,000 bucks or more. You may want to read the stickies in the mic section of this forum they will give you much more insight into helping you make a more informed decision for your purchase.

Good Luck.
