tascam us-122 and cakewalk

have cakewalk pro audio 9 and have been recording some basic audio and guitar tracks by micing guitar throughthe audio channel. i've been plugging a cheap plastic mic into the mic jack of one of the labtec computer speakers. one of the speakers has a jack for the mic and another for headphones. i got a condenser mic and a tascam us-122 interface. its pretty staightforward. download the drivers, plug the interface into a usb port, plug the mic in and record. i had no trouble recording the old setup but i can't get anything to record with the us-122. there's only 5 switches on the thing and i've tried every option. anybody have any experience with this?

you must tell windows to use the us-122 as your soundcard instead of your laptops card.To do this..go into your control panel and under sounds and audio....change it to the us-122 in the drop down box's.
