tascam porta02 4 track recorder

just wondering if i need a special 4 track tape of if i can just buy regular tapes to use?

also any mantinice tips i can do to clean up the tape deck would help this thing was a littlke dirty on the outside when i got it so i would love to give it a nice cleaning inside the tape player part but i dont know exactly what i should use or do??

Use name brand (Chrome) Type II/High Bias tapes,...

such as Maxell XLII/XLIIS, TDK SA/SA-X, TDK CD-Power, Sony CD-It, Emtec CE-II, Emtec CS-II, TDK SM's, Maxell MA's, Quantegy 472's.

Use C60's or C90's, but nothing over 90 min. Shorter than C60 is okay. Don't use Type I/Normal Bias (Ferric) tapes, it won't sound right.

You may clean the heads with Q-tips and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. (91% or higher, but not lower %).

You may clean the Porta with a clean, soft, damp cloth.
