Tascam M312b Mic Pre question?

Hey Gang,
Does anyone know the maximum output gain for the mic pres on the M312b mixer?

I was planning on using a Shure SM7b (yes, you read that correctly, thats not a typo-- SM7b, not a SM57) :D microphone to record some vocals, but I heard that the SM7b need lots of gain, (roughly 54db to 60db of clean gain) to get a good sound, and I was just wondering if I'm going to need an additional preamp to drive this mic, or will I be able to get away with the 312 pres

Unfortunately, I cant find my M300 manual. Thanks

I don't have the numbers and haven't used your mics but I recall plenty of clean gain [with my sm57] and the 300 series.

I'm using an Audix i5 mic (similar to 57) with a Tascam 208 mixer. Works pretty good, but I've added a 12AY7 pre, sounds more clean and tubey ;)

I tried a sm7b on my 312b mixer one night and if I remeber right I had to set the trim knob at 3/4 to get a usable signal going into a tascam 38 with dbx on.
I cant remember a whole lot about anything else but the only thing I tried it on was a male vocal. Just average volume singing no screaming or anything like that.
Sorry thats about all I can remember cause it was about 3 years ago and we only tried it for a short time.

1 mV nominal

THe spec sheet lists -60 dBV (1mV) as the nominal input to the mic pre and -70 dBV (0.3 mV) as the minimum. That is not to say that they are clean at minimum. But it does sound like It would do the trick.

I've only has a M312B for a little while....

Thanks for all the input guys!
I appreciate the help. ;)
