I have a some questions about this mixer. Maybe someone could help?

What is the difference between FLB and EFF? And what does FLB stand for?

There are 2 tape switches for some of the channels. I know one switches between the tape in and xlr mic in. What is the other one for?

Is the following cable http://www.hosatech.com/hosa/products/stp-200_send_return.html wired correctly for the inserts on this board?

When using an effect plugged into the insert, does it get inserted before or after the eq?

Yes I know, why dont I just buy the manual?
Since I am still waiting for it, I figured why not ask the questions here anyway.

I have no patience anymore, especially after spot burned up my shure SM57 mic pouch. YAH!!!!!

FoLdBack. The difference is one (FLB) is pre fader (for setting up a studio monitor mix) and the other (EFF) is post fader (for setting levels sent to effects devices on mixdown so that they channge with alterations to fader levels. If you knew this already, apologies).

Isn't that the pad switch for the pre-amp? What does it say?

Are the inserts a single stereo jack or two mono jacks (one in, one out)? If it's the former then the answer is yes. If it's the latter then you'd need two mono cables for each insert.

On my 388 the insert is post EQ. So, it's a fair bet that it is on this desk too. :)

You have a pyromaniac dog?

Thanks for all the info!!!!!!

Spots breath is what causes the pyromania... His bark is far worse than his bite. YAH!!!!

It says "tape" and is near the FLB and EFF knob. I'll be visiting the mixer on Sunday, which is in a friends studio. I'll try to get more information on this so I can figure out the mystery.

Also there is only one insert jack per channel.

Ah. That switch must be to change the source from mic/line to tape for monitoring.

Or something.

The insert is a stereo socket (or whateverthefuck they're called). So the Hosa cable is the correct one.

The first 16 channels on the M224 have designated tape return inputs; thus the reasoning and logic of why not all 24 channels offer the dual buttons you described, just the first 16.

What is the other one for?
It's for cue monitoring so that you can listen to the taped track and still use the channel strip for additional tracking jobs simultaneously.

Cheers! :)
