Does anyone own one of these things. Here's the idea I had.

Track everything through the two DSD channels. And then rerecord or digitally manipulate to PCM. Would it sound better than recording straight to PCM. It be great to have those DSD tracks around in case SACD ever catches on. What do you think?

Or would it be better to record at 24/192, save those, and then downsample to 44.1.

I've read the machine is better sounding than the Masterlink, which I own and love, but less practical.

Anyone know?

That's a very interesting review. Can I summarize it as follows:

A DSD recording done with the DV RA-1000 is very nearly identical to the source.

Is that a crude oversimplification?

Any chance in hell that SACD becomes the standard consumer audio format in say 5 to 10 years? Or is DVD-Audio the more likely contender?

Thanks again for the review.

Not crude at all - I desperately tried to hear the difference - I wanted to hear a difference.

Formats? Who knows... I wish they'd simply make 24-bit the norm.

are you saying using this as a analog to digital converter is the shaz nit. im thinking of getting onde for its converters and mix down capabilities. getting 2 uses out of a unit is a great thing.

I hate to say that I haven't used the PCM converters on it yet. I know a few people that have that were "satisfied" with them though...
