Hi,

Recently got TASCAM DR-2D. Everything seems to work fine except recording in mp3 format that gets some "artifact ghost" digital noise as if someone is whispering.

When I copy mp3 file from computer to SD card inside DR-2D, it plays perfect, but, when I do my own recording, I get these strange whispering noise, especially at quite moments - for example, when I do not play yet or during pauses in music.

Maybe someone can comment on this - is it a "feature", or my unit has a defect?

Thanks in advance,
Iaroslav

TASCAM DR-2r

I just picked up the DR-2d and like it very much. Wish is used rechargable batteries and came with the AC adapter. I have not heard that ghost problem you mention. I run it in WAV format mostly. I go for max quality. I am trying to find a forum for this device but can't find much. I finally got it to do Overdub (took some doing) and now want to get songs on my iPod. I managed to get the song in iTunes and it recognizes the song when the cable to the Tascam is connected but have not managed to import the song onto iTunes so I can hear on my iPod.

I stumbled across this dusty thread when researching a similar problem with my brand new DR-2d. My observations are as follows:
1) The recording seems to be fine when transferred to a computer so it appears that the problem is in MP3 playback, not recording.
2) My DR-2D still had the original firmware. I've upgraded it to the new firmware and will report back as to whether that seems to solve the problem.
