It's best to stick with those the manufacturer (Tascam) has tested and recommended. They're really not that expensive, though some on the list may no longer be available. I've always used SanDisk cards with no problems - I use them in all my SD gear.

The Sandisk Ultra series aren't that expensive, $8-10 for 32GB. The problem with the Tascam list is that it's from 2015!
Pick up a current model Sandisk Ultra card, and give it a try (99% certain that it will work). Then settle on one type and buy a half dozen. Think of it as being like a reel of tape or a cassette. You wouldn't by a 24 track tape deck and only have one 2" reel of tape. Do a project and save the SD card for that day when you want access to the original project. (yeah, I know you can back them up on a computer, but having more than one copy is a good thing)
