tascam 424 mkIII XLR inputs

my track 2 is really quiet when i use the XLR input with my 57. do i need to clean the plug or is this problem electrical?

and my track 4 functions fine with the XLR, but its level on the screen is always high (above +0db) but i dont hear noise from my headphone and the level fluctuates up when there's disturbance around it (vibrations of my footstep).

does anyone else ever had the same problem with their 424? if anyone has suggestions please let me know. thanks

Sounds like maybe you have a couple cold solder joints in the XLR connectors.

Sometimes when an input has a marginal or cold solder joint, it can become noisy and microphonic to the touch. Trying to clean the connectors wouldn't hurt, though, and you have a small chance that will fix it. Cleaning's always a good first step in trouble cases like this.
