Hello,

I borrowed a TASCAM Portastudio Mk 424 III 4-track recorder from my friend. I got really familiar with the controls and made some recordings that sounded really good on tape. but what can you do with tape??

I found out that if I take a RCA to 1/8 Microphone jack, run it from the line-out on the portastudio into the Microphone jack on my Toshiba, Vista running labtop.

now, when i did this, the recording on Audacity had a weird cold chorusy type sound, it sounded really bad...is there anyway around this?

Is there something im doing wrong? I have heard better recording come from tape...

Help?

Sincerely,
Brian

You should not be running your signal through the microphone jack but rather "line in", if you have that option available to you.

line it should be coulered blue while mic in is red...take blue if you can! mic in is always mono with normal soundcards.you could also mix down to an external deck (cassette,DAT,minidisc) or a cd-standalone recorder.
btw: laptop soundcards aren't that gr8t and may couse latency=chorus-sound
