Does anyone have a Tascam 424 Manual? Not the MKIII, the first one without the XLR/Mike inputs?

Tascam wants $20 for a Photo copied one....

What are they smoking?

But they GIVE the MKIII manual away on line....

Got to love the GREAT Customer Support in the USA...

I bought my 424 in Japan and need a copy of the English version of the manual.

Can anyone help me out?

I hope I don't sound like a Grinch, but I've already done this for two fellow home recordists as a sort of karmic 2 for 1 after some other home recordist did this for me. I used the copier where I work and I can say with little reservation that my employer was not pleased since he pays Minolta by the sheet (and me by the hour) for his hi-speed leased Minoltas. Plus each copy took about 90 minutes to complete including proofing each page, collating the output, and the trip to the post office. It would be dead easy if the manual was a standard size, (Minolta has the auto feed) but it ain't. And it has some foldout pages that make the copying process a pain in the ass. So $20 isn't that whacked out. It does seem rather shabby that TASCAM offers the MKIII manual online but not the vintage stuff. Oh well. They're not in this for their health. They've gotta push the new stuff to stay in biz. This is a very competitive market. With the number of 424 owners at this site, I'm sure someone will kick down.
Especially considering the season. :)
Anyone?

I'm sorry the pain of that process of pamphlet reproduction clouded my thoughts. I failed to ask if your need for this manual was, like my own, an obsessive desire to have the complete documentation on anything you own or a real need to know how to work this thing.
I'll be glad to help you out with specific questions about the operation of this 4-track. Just ask.

Hmmm...

Grizzly: The tascam site only has the manual for the new 424 MK III...mine is a MK I [the gray one, no XLR's]?

Doc: I was looking for one to explain some of the features and ho wto set them up, my manual is in Japanese [I bought it while in Japan].

Thansk for the replies, I guess I will just bite the $15 Tascam bullet for one...

Thanks for the replies!
