Tascam 388 Users?
Hello,
I purchased a 388 in 1990 recorded on it for years then gave it to a friend in 1994-95 who had the space to keep it safe. Last week he gave it back to me since I now had the space again. My plan is to play back all the tapes and record each track to DVD as a wave and Aiff. There are about 50 tapes full of music so allot to do before they crumble into dust. Well to my point and apologies for the long rant. This machine has one problem it can not rewind and fast forward to well unless I manually push in the far right and far left (I don't know what to call it) where the tape rests and move up and down. Can I do anything to remedy it myself? I know it's kind of hard to find repair people for these old rigs any one have a Tascam repair connections in northern California. Any thoughts?
