Tascam 388 TRIM knobs?

Hi All,
I just ran a full session on my newly acquired Tascam 388 and realized that I didn't use the TRIM knobs even once.
I was running everything into the "line inputs". Would that bypass the TRIM?
All my levels were fine but the Trim knobs had no effect on the signal level (didn't go up when I turned them up etc.)
Are they broken or only used when going MIC in?

The Line Ins bypass the Mic Ins and preamp section (Trim knob).

Yep, the Line In comes into the signal path right after the Trim preamp stage, and right before the EQ section. Makes for a cleaner signal for instrument levels or if you want to use an outboard tube pre or something.
