I recently acquired a TASCAM 388 studio 8. Mixer works fine but the play, record, ff, rewind functions are all dead. I replaced the blown F4 fuse with a new one.

As soon as I turn the power on the F4 fuse heats up and blows again. I'm using a slowblow 3A250V as indicated on the Fuse PCB.

Any ideas? I'm no electronics wiz, so appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

When you say that the transport controls are not working, do you mean like this?

It turns out that the fuse that blew was the correct value according to the schematic, however there's an error in the schematic. I spoke with the tech who repaired this particular machine and I can't remember how he determined the correct value, but he did say that he found an error in the schematic.

No. It doesn't light up or do anything. They are completely dead. When I put a new fuse in and turn on the power, it just blows right away.

It used to work with this fuse configuration. The 388 was given to me by someone who used it well for a number of years, but it has sat in the basement unused for the last few years. Thanks.

You have a power supply problem. Have someone check it out for you.
