I posted this once in the TASCAM forum with 112 views and replys, so I figured I'd try here too. Hope that's okay?
Hi Guys
I'm a new user, so bear with me if I'm posting the wrong place or if there's another thread where this should be placed.
I recently became the happy owner of a 388 and I recorded a band with it last weekend. Tracks 1-6 sound and playback great and everything seems to work perfectly with them. When we came to do vocals, there was problems with track 7 though. When I armed the track, and recorded the VU responded, but when I wanted to playback there was nothing. Another weird thing: The same thing was the case with track 8, but I managed to record on that track if it wasn't panned - when track 8 was panned at 12 o'clock it worked and could be recorded upon. Is my head dead or damaged on these two tracks?
I have cleaned the heads thoroughly many many times with isopropyl-alcohol, but I have not been able to have it demagnetized yet - can this be of importance?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank!
