Just got a Tascam 238 dbx version, totally minty looking..with doa capstan. $327 repair including checkup.

repairing the capstan motor, same used for several of Tascam's direct drive cassette decks, involves changing some smt caps according to this man's research..

Incidentally these are the same smt caps used in the Dolby S cards that when fail fry that chip.
