Here's something newer on Quantegy tape.

Nick the Man, I reread what I had posted and I realize it sounds like I'm down on tape. Actually I recorded to tape for many years, but I would hate to give up the convenience of the computer/digital way of doing things. If you have the right mix of dedication and mechanical skill to make a tape-based system work, go for it. And, realistically, although I remember the tape days as "when I had the schematics memorized because I was always fixing something", the first few years of computer recording involved my constantly opening up my computer and fussing with something....

The sheer expense and the hassle.....for what? Nick the Man has just fathomed what a two track reel to reel is, that they 'sound super good,' and has been shown a nice 24-track 2" machine the size of his sofa and requires expertise in maintenance.

I say "Get real and don't get reel to reel." That's for pro establishments, or people with more money than they know what to do with.

A bit ranty, I know, but hey...
