Talk box

Whats a good cheap talk-box? Right now I've been using a dan-electro autowah and a distortion pedal connected to the microphone cable and the sound is ok but nothing near great. So anyone know of any good talkbox's

So how do you mix your vocal with your guitarsignal in this setup?? I don't get it. Or you don't use a guitar at all in this setup?

I don't use a guitar... ONE TIME i don't know how i did it or probably never will but i used it with my guitar it had a ton of wiring .

get a small practice amp from a pawn shop (pignose...anything with a 4" speaker). thats maybe 25 or 30 bucks. Glue a funnel to the face (slightly larger diameter than the speaker). Stick some plastic tubing on the end of the funnel and duct tape it to your mic stand. the sound of the amp will come out the end of the tube into your mouth and the vocal mic will pick it up. I put one of these together when frampton was big and everyone wanted to hear "show me the way" and do you feel like we do". It worked like a charm

don't get the little amp too loud though....a filling or 2 may fall out

thanks jimistone, I'll try that. Since the funnel will take away most of the sound except for what is coming out of the tube, should i use a splitter to connect to a second amp for the regular guitar sound?

You don't typically use vocals with a talk box. You simply make the motions while the signal is fed into your mouth, which goes into the microphone.

I have the Heil Talk box, which sounds and works well. Unfortunately I don't use it that much because the music I write doesn't often call for a talk box..

I have found alternate uses though, especially with the tube. We got our son a leopard frog for his birthday, and of course he was too afraid to feed it crickets, so leave it to Dad to have to feed the damn thing.. Well, I don't like bugs, and certainly hate touching them, so I used the tube to suck the cricket in, then I pointed the tube to the frog tank and blew him in there to be devoured..

The base of the box is extremely heavy, so it can also be used as a paper weight or a big toe stubber.

I saw a band today, that was good yet the lead guitarist used either a wah or a talk box for EVERY solo. It's an effect that you can easily use to much of.

i used an a/b box so i could switch from my main amp to my "talk box amp"

you have to be able to switch to the talk box set up for a quick word or lick and go right back to your main amp

no, cause the only guitar sound your getting is thru the tube into the vocal mic. an a-b box is real cheap.

Alright thanks, I haven't been able to try it yet, I'm still in need of the money to do it but don't worry I'm mowing a yard in a couple days for 30 bucks and i get allowance in a couple days 65$ YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
