Hiya! This is the one time a reel to reel has failed me that I actually felt relived - I now know that I can afford to have it repaired.

Problem one - sometimes doesn't want to rewind! It seems that if I hit stop while it is playing and then rewind, it doesn't bother...seems to chug and slowly re-wind, but if I *don't* hit stop, it starts rewinding normally! Also, sometimes the machine decides to play slow! It's a really cool effect....but not very practicle!

Problem two, and the more alarming one - it seems my right reel table keeps dropping - it's dropped at least 4 times now and every time I break out my allen key and raise the reel table thinking that the allen screws came loose, but that never seems to solve the problem! Finally I took the first reel table apart and noticed that the center pin - I don't know what it is called - is higher up! This pin, of which I don't know its name - is in the center of the photo I have attached.

I'd like to know if anyone else has seen anything like this? ....it seems this pin - attached to the motor - is itself dropping thus lowering the right take up occasionally. I'll hear it drop once the tape stops rewinding because it returned to zero...I'll take a look and sure enough the second reel is lower.

I would like to know what these issues are...just so I can have a sharper idea of what to tell the repair guy. I don't wanna get reamed...nor do I wanna waste time if this machine is unfixable. It would be a real shame if it was beyond repair but I somehow doubt that....

Thanks for any tips,
