Ok I'm listening to conformist wine....WOW.

The bass and drums....and the guitar...

Ok the whole rythym section....INSANE. This track went through 3 diff "era's" of metal and It's damn cool. I also like the lite panned percussion on the intro.

Only complaint I'd say is the song took a bit to get started...I was thinking it was an instrumental, but musically thats not really a bad thing.

Okay I'm going to the mention the drummer one more time, cause he has a REALLY cool style.

Wow, executivos, thanks a lot! I appreciate the great feedback! BTW, only $12 for a cd!:) Just kidding. lol

Take care

Rick

Did you do all that yourself? Or did you have a whole band? Are the drums real acoustic miked drums or Midi, samples or anything? Drum machine? The recording technique is fucking flawless. The style of music isn't my usualy thing but I can see that you do what you do Well.

I listened to Conformist Wine, and though it is not my style, it is a great job. The CD must sound pretty good because it was clear as a bell on broadband play.

Good Job!

Mike: You caught me: We used V-drums. I'm glad to hear that this stuff sounds OK to you guys since it's my first serious recording attempt. It is a whole band, with me playing guitar, as well as the singer who plays some rhythm, a bassist and the drummer. For more info check out our website. http://www.sittinidol.com

Thanks!!

SittinIdol,

I'll be at the Alley on the 28th, just showing up to support Innersurge, Steve says you'r pretty good.

I'll be the long-haired freak with the NoWhere Radio banner...

P.S., I'd listen to your tunes ahead of time, but they're on that overly commercialized hunk-of-crap mp3.com which I refuse to visit ;)

Rick,

Very cool! There's not much of this around here and it was nice to find some metal. It did take a bit to get started but it was cool once it did. I hear a lot of different influences here. I'll try to comment in more detail later but just wanted to say it was nice to hear something I could get into. I have to go to work now, good tunes, nice and heavy! Good guitar sounds too!

peace.

P.S. Singing is reminding me a bit of "Dave Mustaine"...... actually, only on a few parts. cool.

Great metal! Everything sounds great to me, except I dont care for the long intro's. I'll be posting a metal mp3 on my web site in a day or so. Right now all I have are some blues and blues/rock (well a heavy blues-rock) I'm remixing my Metal Mix right now. I cant get a good bass kick drum like you have though...

Nice sounds....and I especially like the gtrs at 2:58+ ...and the V drums. nice bkwrds verb on the vocals too. the intro is a tad too long...and kinda has alot of cliche metal stuff in it. your fidelity is great and sounds good enough to be on your cd for sale. If you've got an audience/following, you'll sell this like hotcakes... kick butt!!

Great sound. I don't know about the intro to Conformist Wine. It is also a little on the long side though. On Superhost, I think the vocals could come through a little more at the biggening in the intro around 1:00. That might be what you were going for. Good though other than that. Great acoustic guitar sound on beggining of Suncatcher. Cool effects on the vocals. I guess in the back groung that is supposed to be like a record clicking?? Well I don't like it take it out. It achieves nothing for your song. Overall...Great sound and great mixing job. You are all very talented musicians and your vocalist freaking rocks. The drummer is not too shabby either. And the guitar player has some chops. The bassist is very solid as well.

Here are my suggestions. Do you write any songs under 6 minutes?? I mean if you are Tool then you would certainly get some radio play, but as a band just starting out those songs seem a little long. Also, do you guys have a song that you could hear as a radio hit?? Cuz to me your songs sound like B-sides from a Megadeath album. I mean thats a comliment to the sound quality and songwriting believe me, but at the same time, they didn't excite me like Symphony of Destruction, or Anarchy in the UK did when I first heard them. I would love to hear a powerful in your face song from you guys. Like System of the Down style. Anyway I am very impressed by your sound and musicainship in these recordings and I listened to all 3, All the way through.

Conformist Wine is pretty fuckin tight. Nice punch. I would suggest tightening up the song a bit. Trim a little from the intro and the guitar solos in the beginning.

Overall very cool, good sound.

DAMN

Greetings,

DAMN THATS GOOD!

I usually like mid-heavy stuff, like Metallica, but this was just recorded so well it sounds good.

What did you say about how the drums were recorded? Please elaborate.

Actually, do i hear some chorus on the guitars or is it just really fine distortion?

I must agree, the into is damn long, too long for radio/commercial obviosly, but its still good. You should do two mixes of it....short and long...long for the hardcore fans...

love the guitar single notes in the rhythem at 5:00, solo is nice and understated and not over the top cheezy, i like it, especially the way it ends with the single note slide down.

Vocals are kick ass for the style, really damn good

Damn I'm impresssed, love that double kick on the drums, reminds me of ol school metallica

Good ending to the song! thick heavy chord

Intro is loooooooong

Whats with the band name? story behind it?

DAMN I just checked out your page and your CANADIAN!
CANADA ROCKS.
WEll then, I should have known it was good canadian stuff.
Come and play in ontario man, you will get a good response here.

Damn good work gusy, seriously good stuff
SirRiff

Rick,

I just watched the video on your website. I wish I could have been there. I would have started a "pit" for sure.

yeah canadians rock! .. who would say otherwise!

great job! .. i'm at work. i've got a ton of energy now.
love the verses. The guitar sound does have some chorus n it doesn't it?

I've got a bunch of buddies who will love this. I can't wait to get home and blast this. It's tunes like this that make you realize why so many people disregard their nehgbours ears!
Nice warm tone on the guitar solo. Good tasty bends.
Hey the intro's too long but the end is nice and to the point.
V-Drums ey? that's our next step. My drumer is dying to get in on the action.

Keep on rocking ... and don't sell out!

Wow, I don't check it for a few days and there's a landslide!!

SirRiff: The drums are V-drums, which the drummer played and we used real cymbals and hihat. We recorded each drum on a separate track to have mixing flexibility. It took a long time to mix the drums right. I'd actually prefer miking a kit, but we're not equipped well enough (or have a good enough room) to satisfy my drummer.

I'd like to mention, to everyone who thinks that the intro is too long: YOU're RIGHT!!! It's the intro for the whole album; It's actually a separate track on the album, with the song Conformist Wine starting with the real heavy guitar palm muted chords. I've been meaning to cut off the intro all together and put an mp3 up of that, but haven't had time yet.

BTW:
There's no chorus on that distortion, it's just my Boogie...

Cheers
Rick

I also agree about Conformist Wine, that the intro is a bit too long. Only flaws in sound I could hear was too much compression on the snare. It took a bit out of the power of the drums. The pros are much more evident on this track. This is a damn good song. The guitar sound is just evil. I love that sound. Great stuff. On "Suncatcher", I thought the vocals sounded a bit like Hetfield and Mustaine both. In a good way.
