Tacam 388 Cable Remote DIY

Is it possible to build me a remote for a Tascam 388 out of a spare Tascam 32 transport control pcb,
or out of a spare 424 transport pcb?

I am not paying these crazy ebay prices for a RC71 remote control, but i need one so DIY or better DI with a
little help from my fellow analogians.

I will post here in this thread if i am able to build this remote.

If you can follow schematic diagrams, I can't see why you couldn't build one yourself even out of a bunch of momentary SPST switches and a couple of LED's. The only real proprietary item is the plug. Doing it that way would probably also be easier then trying to build a case to hold those other board/assemblies you mentioned.

There's a guy on ebay selling wireless remotes for the 388. He builds them himself. I think they are priced at around $68. Thinking about getting one myself, even though my RC-71 does the trick.
 
they almost never pop up on ebay germany and if they are overpriced. there is one, 89€ thats what 130 dollar? insane.
some years ago i bought the rc81 remote for my 688 for i think 15 euro.
i thought i build it out of a 424 control board to make it more "tascamical", now i just have to learn
how to read.

im a lazy man u have to know.but 388 needs a remote.
about the connector, i thought i just solder some sort of
a breakout cable on the pins on the 388 back (inside)
and use cable "clamps".
or find the right connector.tough i guess.

how about an old sega master system controller, or nes?
 
For the wire, you could use an old printer cable and just cut off the ends. That would give you a multi-core jacketed wire for your "kit".

yes i have one or 2 of these old cables laying around.it should be at least 6 meters i think.

that one would look good on the 388.

buttons for play and record, down for stop, left right for ffwd and rew, up will be the magick function.

i will get into this build after repairing the missing channel on the 388.
 
How many pin connections are there on the end of that Sega jack? I believe you'll need 11 or 12 for the RC-71 project.

on the wireless one which is sold on ebay are 12 pins, sega has 9 pin connector.
i would try to just take the housing and the switches in there and the rest just build on
these solder boards with the holes in it,i have no plan yet. but could be fun.
