I just started learning about SysEx yesterday and I thought I got it but apparently not. I'm trying to back up sounds from my Proteus 2000. Now I'm seeing the bytes go into the SysEx bank in Sonar and I'm saving them. But when I go to reload the data back to the proteus one of two things is happening. I either get 2 arrows pointing to the left on the proteus display and no sound, or I get a different sound than when I started (was a piano, now it's brass).
I've read the manuals and I'm doing everything they list out, but I must be missing something.
Anybody?

I havent used a Prot2000 but some things to look out for:

Some modules need to be 'ready' to receive sysex data. Make sure the Proteus is expecting the data.

Make sure you are actually checking the user presets and not the factory ROM presets. You cant overwrite factory ROM presets.

Hope that helps, good luck.

actually i think you can.. it's got some "safety switch" somewhere that'll let you overwrite rom presets.. most modules have anyway..
often when you do a full drop it sets itself back to some early state if you will.. it means that often stuff like local control and other setup is reset so you'll have to put some stuff back on.. it's because it doesn't support midi for absolutely all features.. that could be why it's acting weird..

Cool, thanks. I finally got it to work. Thanks for the help.
