Symetrix 202: To Mod or Not to Mod?

Has anyone here modified their Symetrix 202? I have an unmodified version that seems very clean. Just wondering how you'd characterize the sound of it after the mod. Does anybody do the mod for a fee for the soldering iron challenged like me? TIA

Try google on rec.audio.pro. There was an extensive discussion on this a couple years ago. I have a couple SX202s that I've thought about modding but never got around to it because I've since bought better pres. The stock SX202s still sound just fine however and I still use them when I need a couple more tracks and a clean pre. I think they are still one of the best bargains out there. You could also e-mail Ulysses at Roll Music (the folks who do the Folcrom) and ask him. I believe he has both straight and modded units and has posted about them.
