Supporting RM equipment only by its ears

Good morning, I just built a rack for my rack mount equipment. Angled for easy viewing and access, etc. Now I'm about to put the equipment in and got worried: there's no bottom support for the equipment. It'll all be supported only by its ears.

Is that sufficient or should I build a little support in for the bottom piece and then everything else will rest on that?

Is the answer different when you find out I will need to move the rack out of the studio a couple of times a year?

I have a bunch of 1U equipment, some 2U (including an amplifier ... pretty heavy) and a large however-many-U EMU E4xtULTRA.

I'm including a picture to try to give you an idea of what I mean.

It's ment to be supported only by the rack ears. It'll be fine. Just be sure and put the rack screws in ALL the holes of the rack ears, especially the bottom holes as that's where all the stress is.

It is also adviseable to put your heavier equipment towards the bottom of the rack (its a gravity thing). The rack will be more stable that way.

AND make sure that any heat generating conponents go at the bottom of the rack with some space between them (heat travels UP)

Yeah, no problem, the gear was designed to be held by its ears. Some rack gear should supported in the rear, but nothing you've mentioned needs that.

Some power amps need rear support. Check the manual. They usually will have an obvious support point at the rear of the case.

Yeah, like don said, amps that need back end support usually have another set of ears at the back too.
