Congrats.

Nice work muttley.

Is that an ELU router you have there?

Wish I'd gotten mine repaired, replaced it with a Makita, total piece of junk.

Yep, Elu's for me every time. Won't use anything else. Sadly they were bought out by Makita and they are junk now.

I have three smaller ones like that and they are still perfect after 15 years of good use. I also have one of the half inch models also slow start. Excellent.

If you're ever in need of one that matches up to the original Elu's, Trend based their new routers on these very models. I haven't used one myself yet but have heard very, very good things about them. Not cheap but the best rarely is. Thats what I'd plump for if I had to replace mine.

How did you break it by the way? Those things are pretty much indestructible.

Dunno what exactly was wrong with it, routering out door locks and it died, changed the cable and it was still dead, brushes had been replaced, needed a router that day so had to get another.

All my tools were ELU at one time bud, only thing left is the mitre saw and it needs new bearings. They were the best.

I thought it was Dewalt that bought ELU, maybe not.

Dewalt tools have a very short lifespan.

Dewalt bought Makita after that as far as I remember. I recall phoning one day and getting through to Dewalt, thought I had the wrong number until I dialed back.:o

If you still have that router I'll have it for spares and pay you something for it.

My best guess is that the windings burnt out, who know's? If so it would have been beyond repair anyway. Unusual because as you sugest ELU used to kick ass. I guess you just got a duff en.

Skipped it dude, moved it from van to van for a while always meaning to get it repaired then skipped it. Wasn't a dud I got about six years use outta it, the mitre saw is about fifteen years old. :o

You know how us Scots like to keep hold of stuff, if the mitre saw is any good to ya you can have it, drop it off next time I'm at the bro's, dont want anything for it, yours if you can use it.

May have been worth fixing!! and thats one of the newer ones. The older ones are still in demand.

Very cool!I got a uke this year and I must say they are extremely under rated instruments.Everyone should own at least one!

Thanks for sharing the whole process.
