Is anyone using Edirol's Super Quartet? Any opinions about it in terms of sound and value compared to price?

Thanks.

Got it, use it alot. Very flexibel when it comes to what kind of sounds you can get out of it, but it has 2 big drawbacks:
- Sound is not good enough for actual production value.
- Settings do not save with a (cubase) project file. Meaning you have to save them in a seperate file for Super Quartet.

But it's great for the first steps of creating something.

Like Halion said. Easy to setup. Great as a scratch pad. The Percussion (And a few bass presets) are possibly worthy of final production. You can get some astounding results with custom patches which can be saved together. Like Halion said too, Cubase wont save the settings, so when you load a project you have to reload the SQ settings (I usually just save the SQ preset in the folder that the rest of the project is in) As a note, you will run into this problem with any host that accesses the SQ VSTi. If you are using the DXi version (Such as via Sonar), you wont have that problem, as the DXi's version will recall settings when loaded.

Overall It is a good piece of software. Worth the price though??? Probably not. Especially if your a preset loving type of person, but again good simple editing capabilities are available, which is what makes it better than some Romplers. As a final note, there is no expandibility (No external samples can be loaded in, which is a shame). If you wan't a more versatile Rompler look at others, like Sampletank.

Thanks guys.

I downloaded a demo and tried it out. The demo is a real pain though -- it plays this loud beep every 30 seconds and then shuts off after 10 minutes. I kind of got the idea though. I liked it, and I would be using it wit Sonar, so the recall of settings isn't a problem, but I think I reached the same conclusion that you did, Atterion. For the money, there are better things out there.
