Anyone ever use a "Sunn Concert Controller" (1970's)?
(I think Sunn was taken over by Fender.)

Now I am going back to the 70's ha ha, I used to have a Sunn mixer, it may have been called a concert controller. I am drawing on my long term memory here so I may not remember everything quite 100%
It was 8 Channel XLR low impedance, Jack High impedance, and line input on each channel. Out puts were Main (mono) and 1 aux send, there was treble and bass on each channel and it had no faders, all controls were knobs.
There was a graphic, 7 band I think. And it had a spring reverb.
The whole thing was built into a case with a sloping lid and it was huge (for an 8 channel mixer) about 24"W x 18"D x 8"H.
I remember that it sounded very clean and was very well built. I should have some photos of it somewhere but I would have to look for them.
Sunn made later gear (a bit smaller) and also built PA amps and speaker systems.

I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with it. Sounds like you had the "Sunn Concert Controller 2". I've just bought the earlier model "Sunn Concert Controller 1" (1972). Mine is the same setup, except it's 6-channel with 12 High-Impedence inputs. It has 4 speaker output jacks and a line out. Can't wait to play and record thought it.
Although I can't find an Owners Manual or Repair Manual anywhere, I can still get a schematic through Fender for $5.00 US.

I found the photos, it was a concert controller 2. These pictures were taken in the early - mid 80's (actually it was probably 1981), it was our 1st PA (actually not true I now remember we also had an old Jands 8 channel before this in 78) set up. I remember this night (the start anyway) as were trying it out on a friends band. Notice the old SAE amps parked alongside the sunn.
The summer wine must have been free to the band that night.

What a beauty... and VU's too! Thanks for the email and the posting!
These controllers are HUGE... and HEAVEY... and the photo's are deceiving. I'd forgotten how things were back then until my smaller Sunn Concert Contoller 1 shipment arrived. I couldn't believe it. Mine is 24"W x 20"D x 10"High at the back. It weighs about 30 lbs. Makes you walk with a limp hauling it around with it's one side handle. Great piece.
I'm still looking for an Operator's Manual and a Servive Manual. If anyone out there has one, please let me know.
