Subwoofer?

Hi all, wasn't sure where this post belongs...thanks for reading.

I am in the process of building a small studio that will double as a practice room (3-4 bodies). I know to use dedicated monitors for tracking/mixing but need some advice for room monitors for practice session. These would used for monitoring not only vocals but a Roland TD-5 drumkit as well. My concern is with low frequency.

My initial idea was to go for a lower budget pair of 2-way monitors (10" w/horn)....i.e. Kustom and add a subwoofer. I happen to have two EV-m 15" speakers, each in its own cabinet not being used and thought perhaps they could be used for the sub (actually would be happy if I could get away with only using one).

I have an off brand 60 watt rack-poweramp and a Crown 300A (old) power amp that has a bridging switch (stereo to mono).

How do I direct the low freq to the sub (Crown)? Are there any crossovers (passive) that could do the trick? I tried researching on the web but keep coming up with CAR audio applications and some "way too technical" posts. This is strictly for practice monitoring.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

You can find cheap passive x-overs at vibroworld.com and I think at Mcbrideloudspeaker.com
Perhaps consider the purchase of JBL or Mackie bi-amped speakers? At least they are very multi- purpose, and both have direct out's for subs.

Thanks for the advice Sjoko, since I made that post I think I figured out what I need to do. I always knew about active crossovers from my playing days....yeah we used the "power of tower" when it came to loudspeakers. I just assumed active crossovers were pricey when in fact I can get a NADY for around $150. This thing actually provides 2-way plus a summed out for subwoofer....perfect.

Thanks again!
