Meh.....it's like no one does a basic song contest any more.
They want you to shoot a video, not just provide music....then they want you to annoy as many fans, friends and family members to watch & share and post stupid Facebook likes and whatnot....and then based on that, they'll pick the the top 50 to judge.
Which means....IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MARKETING....not the music.

Of course, some people may find all that a lot of fun, so go for it. :)

Lame. Social networking is part of the judging criteria. It's not about how good a song you can write and perform, it's about how much exposure you get for Converse and Guitar Center.

Heh, yeah. This is an exercise in promoting themselves for little cost.
Sure, one guy will win, but that's going to cost them less than the marketing costs to get the same job done the hard way.

I only ever entered one of those 'submit your demo to win X' efforts, but there were absolutely no requirements and no ties or anything involved.
Just send in the song and tell us about yourself.

Way too much work considering I have a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

Being an anti-social guy I am glad that I am too old for such thing and that I have no expectatives on my musical production other than give it for free.

:D

Somebody should literally just record a ten second sample of them taking a shit and add a video and viral market it to win one of these contests just to show that these contests are decided by how many contacts you have and not actual quality.
If only I had like 5 million Twitter followers :(

Well...if you did video tape yourself taking a shit....you just might! :p

Nothing like totally stupid videos on the internet for gettig a lot of "hits".
That seems to be what people like to watch these days.

Yep. Standard "get all your fans to vote for you to win" type contest. They get cheap promotion for Guitar Center; you hurt your band's reputation with your fans.

Did any of yall even read the rules and fine print? I know this is a crock of shit, but it does say that the "judges", who I'm sure are a sophisticated panel of hapless fucking idiots, can go outside of whatever gets the most likes and choose their own winners. Not likely, I know, but it's possible. If I were a judge I'd choose whichever one didn't pander to their family and friends and beg for votes.

TL/DR. I got as far as the big print where it talked about Likes, Views, Hits or whatevers And since when did you start reading the fine print?? :D

Lol. True. But with silly "contests" like this, I always read the fine print. Anything that involves submitting original work, I assume the worst, lik eyou're giving up rights to your work. Like say you win, you get the prize money, pay the fat taxes, and that's it for you. Then they take your song and have Rihanna record it and make billions with it. :laughings:

Most of the time they're pretty clear that it's just a license for them to use it. They probably don't want to be saddled with the albatross that is defending everyone and their dogs' crappy songs that they suddenly own. :D
