Stupid question of the week

ok well i picked up a microsoft think pad 600 for like 80 bucks of ebay, runs stable.... win2k right now..... it has a 33mhz processor...... and 128 ram.... is this useless for recording, or can i actually do somehting with this? i cant aafford a faster laptop but i need something portable for recording... am i stuck with a desktop in a rack and a big CRT in a box


BTW if this is sutable i plan on egtting like a M-audio quarto of somehting else cheap

Not totally agreeing here. Yes, it's slow but for some in the field stereo tracking you should be able to make it work fairly well. I've tracked 2 channels while playing back a handful of channels with less.

I agree, I ran a PIII 733 (not too much faster) with 256 Megs of RAM and I was able to run several tracks in SF Acid while recording stereo tracks. My only concern would be the quality of the sound card.
 
thanks... i have a feeling that this will just be used for logo and web design... but it was worth a try
