I.E....I hit record on PT and the song starts 20 seconds later. How do I cut all of that dead space out? I know how to move tracks but not all of them at once.

Why woudl you want to do that? Leave it as it is when you're tracking/mixing, and when you're done only bounce it from where the music starts.

You can move your edit point to determine where recording starts by clicking on the timeline, so you don't have to sit there for 30secs waiting for the song to kick in.

Hey man, you can group all the tracks then switch to "shuffle mode" then highlight from where u want to cut it and press delete!. And you're good!

great question!!!

What I often do is have a midi click track for a two bar intro. I edit it out later, which is exactly like what you are doing, right?

Two ways that I do this are: in pro tools, and in Audacity.
....PT.. you will want to copy and delete, then paste it prior to where it was in time. Doing this to each track will be a long process though. Plus, your midi may not match up anylomger. Here is a better way....
Leave it there! When the song is 100 percent done, you can bounce it as a wav file, and open it up using audacity. It is a free peice of software. Then, with it open in audacity, you can quickly use the audacity cursor to highlight the silence at the begining of your tune, and press your backspace key to delete it. Wholah!!!

Plus, download the free "Lame" toll, and audacity can save your new shortened song as a mp3. Lame needs to be downloaded only one time, and then it becomes part of audacity software.

Not to spam you, but I talk about this sort of stuff often in my blog, WWW.RecordingWeekly.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. Feel free to subscribe too! Good luck, and never mind all of the haters. I noticed you had one reply....
